All about Dog Shows
Once you are the owner of an incredible breed of dog, such as the lovely Bichon Frise, you might become interested in the various dog shows. Perhaps you will be thinking about showing your pure bred Bichon. If not, you might just want to attend some of the shows because you have a love for the sport. Either way, these competitions can be very exciting to attend, while also being a terrific way to meet other Bichon owners!
The AKC dog shows are a fabulous way for all sorts of breeders to get together and show off their incredible dogs. As a spectator, you can learn all about the various breeds, including information on their backgrounds, temperament and so on. You will also find that there is usually an amazing amount of exhibitors in attendance at all of these shows as well. You could find exhibitors for everything including leashes and leads, to grooming products, and so much more.
If you are thinking about showing your pure bred Bichon Frise, then you have to make sure that his/her AKC papers are in order. Also, it is a must that you can easily walk him/her on a lead as well as keep him/her still long enough for the judging to take place at the shows. After all, there is much more to showing your lovely Bichon Frise than his/her gorgeous coat and friendly demeanor.
You will want to check with the AKC (American Kennel Club) so that you can get a complete listing of all of the dog shows throughout the year. These listings should be able to give you all of the information that you will need to either attend or register your dog for the shows. Usually in the full AKC dog show list, you will find information on show dates and locations, entry fees, any pertinent rules and guidelines, entry forms and sometimes even the names of the folks who are judging the competitions.
As a dog lover and the proud owner of a beautiful pure bred Bichon Frise, you are probably already well aware of some of the major dog shows and competitions that take place each and every year. One of the most famous dog shows happens to be the prestigious Westminster Dog Show, which takes place every year during the month of February at famous Madison Square Garden in New York. You might just find that after you attend one of these events, you will soon become swept away in anything and everything that has to do with dog shows and competitions.
